A comprehensive session on Palliative Care was organized at DHA Public Library in collaboration with renowned social worker and philanthropist Nauman Malik and NMN And Co. A large number of people attended the session, which aimed to provide awareness about Palliative Care for cancer patients in their final stages, a crucial aspect of their care. Nauman Malik hosted the program, while other guests, including Brigadier Abdul Hafeez Khan, Zareen Arif, Dr. Rubaha Humayoun (Director of Awareness), Naveen Samar (Founder of NMN And Co), Dr. Faiza Zareen from Labbaik Cancer Care, and Dr. Saeeda Akhtar, shed light on Palliative Care.

 

In the end, Shamaaila Farooq, Founder of NMN And Co, provided in-depth awareness about Palliative Care. She highlighted a case of Arfa Baloch, who suffers from oral cancer, rendering her unable to eat or speak for years due to a lack of medication, and is living a life full of difficulties. Despite her physical condition, her spirit remains strong. Shamaaila Farooq appealed to the audience to join hands with NMN And Co to spread awareness and make a difference in the lives of thousands of patients like Arfa.

At Defence Public Library, the “Art and Tale Studio” program was held in the kids’ section, attracting a large number of young participants. The event included storytelling, art activities, and a pet show, all of which were enjoyed with great enthusiasm by the children.

Art Exploration at Defence Public Library: A Month of Creative Discovery

As part of its ongoing mission to nurture creativity in all its forms, Defence Public Library has extended its support beyond literature by hosting a month-long Art Techniques Tour Program, led by artist and educator Ms. Zaeema Nauman.

The program, designed for children and young teens, introduces participants to a diverse range of art techniques including decoupage, weaving, resin art, lino cut, texture painting, oil pastels, and charcoal drawing. Each session allows students to explore a new medium, encouraging self-expression, creativity, and hands-on learning in a nurturing environment.

“I truly appreciate the cooperation and encouragement provided by the Defence Public Library,” said Ms. Zaeema. “Their support has made it possible to create an inspiring and welcoming space for young artists to experiment and grow.”

This initiative reflects the library’s broader commitment to being a hub of community engagement, where literature, art, and learning come together to enrich minds and inspire expression.

The Debate Room has effectively nurtured critical thinking, confidence, and creativity among young learners in the month of June, 2025. The institution recently organized a series of public speaking workshops and remains dedicated to carrying this mission forward with the same enthusiasm and determination.

On 24th May 2025, Defence Public Library, in collaboration with renowned social activist and philanthropist Mr. Nauman Malik, organized a thought-provoking literary event titled “کتاب دوستی اور اس کی اہمیت” (The Love for Books and Its Importance) at the Altaf Fatima Auditorium, DHA Library Lahore. The event highlighted the critical role of books in shaping minds and fostering intellectual growth across all age groups.
The session was graced by the presence of Living Legend Mr. Rashid Mehmood, a celebrated actor and writer, who served as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring address, he shared personal anecdotes and emphasized the enduring power of literature in nurturing creativity and wisdom.
Mr. Nauman Malik, host and organizer, passionately spoke about the importance of reading culture in todays fast-paced digital age. He underscored how books remain a timeless source of knowledge, imagination, and moral guidance for individuals of all generations.
Other esteemed speakers included Dr. Khalid Javed, a revered poet; Zubia Anwar, a prolific writer; Rakhshanda Naveed, a well-known novelist; and Dr. Faiza Zareen from Laibaik Cancer Care, who all shared their unique perspectives on the transformative impact of books and reading habits in personal and societal development.
A special note of appreciation was extended to Mehmooda Saleem, Chairperson of Mehmooda Saleem Welfare Trust, and NMN & Co-Founder Shumila Farooq, for their continued support and contributions to the cause of education and social welfare.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to promoting book reading, literary engagement, and cultural enrichment in the community.

Thursday, 24th April 2025, the second edition of the Izhaar Literary Circle took place today at the Defence Public Library. The event brought together renowned poetic figures under one roof and was presided over by the esteemed Mr. Abbas Tabish.

DHA Library in Lahore successfully inaugurated the “Izhaar” Literary Circle on Saturday January 25, 2025. The circle aims to provide a platform for young and amateur writers to showcase their talent and foster creativity.
2. The inaugural session was presided over by Dir DHAES Brig. Aamir Hafeez, (Retd), who in his remarks, commended the initiative and emphasized the importance of creating such forums for budding writers. He encouraged participants to use the circle as an opportunity to express themselves and hone their skills.
Conclusion:
The event was well-received, marking the beginning of a promising platform for literary enthusiasts in the community.

On Monday, 18th January 2025, Mr. Gohar Ahmad Sharif, a renowned Master Life Coach, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Specialist, and Relationship Coach, delivered an insightful talk on the critical topic, “DeStress Your Life – Mind, Body & Soul.” The session aimed to equip participants with valuable tools and knowledge to manage stress effectively and improve their overall well-being.
Mr. Sharif began the session by explaining the concept of stress and its profound impact on productivity. He highlighted how prolonged stress can lead to significant productivity losses, both in personal and professional life, shedding light on statistics showing the productivity loss per year due to unmanaged stress.
He then delved into identifying various stressors that affect individuals, ranging from work pressures to personal challenges. Stress, he noted, is often referred to as “The Silent Killer” due to its gradual yet damaging effects on health, often going unnoticed until it leads to serious issues. Mr. Sharif emphasized recognizing the early signs of stress, which include fatigue, irritability, anxiety, and physical symptoms like headaches or sleep disturbances.
In the second part of the talk, Mr. Sharif provided practical strategies for managing stress. These included mindfulness techniques, time management, and prioritizing self-care. He also discussed the importance of maintaining healthy relationships and recognizing the signs of unhappy relationships, which can be significant sources of stress. He encouraged the audience to work on communication skills and mutual understanding to improve relationship dynamics and reduce emotional strain.
The session concluded with a Q&A, where Mr. Sharif answered questions from attendees on how to incorporate stress management practices into daily life and how to cultivate resilience in the face of challenges. Participants left with a renewed sense of control over their mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

In an inspiring initiative, The Debate Room, Pakistan’s premier debating institution, recently conducted a session that highlighted its mission to foster critical thinking and public speaking skills among the youth. This session was particularly noteworthy for its diversity, uniting students from the Hope Uplift Foundation with those from some of the country’s most prestigious schools, including Aitchison College, Lahore Grammar School (LGS), and TNS Beaconhouse.

2. The event was graciously hosted at the DHA Library, which provided the perfect venue for this important gathering. Open to members of the DHA Library, the session allowed a broad spectrum of participants to benefit from The Debate Room’s expertise.

3. Students from the Hope Uplift Foundation were introduced to the world of Model United Nations (MUNs), where they learned the art of diplomacy, research, and persuasive argumentation. Meanwhile, students from Aitchison, LGS, and TNS engaged in rigorous training in parliamentary debating, a discipline that hones quick thinking, eloquence, and the ability to engage in high-level discourse.

4. By bringing together students from diverse backgrounds in such a prestigious setting, The Debate Room continues to bridge communities and cultivate the minds of the next generation.

On January 8, 2025, an engaging and thought-provoking interactive learning session was held at the DHA Library, led by Mr. M.A. Hijazi, a distinguished Certified Financial Advisor and Private Banker from the Securities & Investments Institute, Asia-Pacific, Australia. In addition, Mr. Hijazi is a Certified Trainer with Franklin Covey, USA, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the event.
The session’s theme, “When Wisdom Governs Your Life,” resonated deeply with attendees, offering valuable insights into the power of wisdom in guiding one’s personal and professional journey.
Throughout the session, Mr. Hijazi emphasized the importance of integrating wisdom into decision-making processes. He highlighted how wisdom goes beyond mere knowledge and intellectual capability, incorporating emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and ethical considerations. Participants learned how wisdom can significantly improve both financial and personal choices, leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life. Mr. Hijazi also discussed the role of long-term thinking, strategic planning, and resilience in overcoming challenges and achieving success.
The interactive format of the session encouraged active participation, allowing attendees to share experiences, ask questions, and engage in meaningful discussions. Mr. Hijazi’s practical insights and relatable examples helped clarify how wisdom can be cultivated and applied in everyday life. By the end of the session, participants left with a clearer understanding of how to align their actions with wisdom, fostering better relationships, decision-making, and overall well-being. The session was a perfect blend of professional development and personal growth, leaving attendees inspired to live wiser lives.
